SEAT is the only company that designs, develops, manufactures and markets cars in Spain. SEAT enters the compact SUV market for the first time with the Ateca, a car that captures all the Iberian flair, individualism and quality that characterises one of the most stylish brands on the market. This is not just an exercise in looking good, the Ateca is every inch a capable, technically advanced vehicle that fully embraces SEAT’s ‘Technology to Enjoy’ maxim.

Certainly the model blazed a trail towards its UK market launch, prompting an unprecedented level of pre-sales customer enquiries. A five-star Euro NCAP safety rating and the Best Crossover title in the 2016 Auto Express New Car Awards added fuel to the fire of interest, along with residual value predictions that were the highest for any model in SEAT’s history.

Anticipation was high, but the Ateca delivers on its promises and rightly takes its place as the third pillar of the SEAT brand, alongside the Ibiza and Leon. Certainly the influence of the game-changing Leon is evident in the Ateca’s styling, which applies recognisable design cues, such as its prominent crease lines, to a strong and purposeful SUV. Slightly longer and taller than the Leon ST, it benefits from exceptional packaging to deliver a specious cabin and one of the largest load areas in its class – 510 even before you move the rear seats and up to a maximum 1,604 litres (485 and 1,579 litres for 4Drive versions).

Throughout the car, SEAT has moved its quality levels up even further, while at the same time nailing down lasting value for money. The result is car that is highly desirable and affordable and well-suited to modern motoring life. Dr Matthias Rabe, SEAT Vice President responsible for R&D, sums it up: “The new Ateca is a real SUV with strong SEAT DNA, perfect for urban use and with authentic off-road capabilities. It offers a great driving experience, reinforced by an unmatchable array of driving aids among its extensive technology packages.”

100% designed and developed in Barcelona, the SEAT Ateca is built by sister Volkswagen Group brand, ŠKODA, in the Czech Republic.


Rich in technology

The Ateca provides a host of new technology features that help make driving safer and less stressful. The latest generation Park Assist and a 360-degree array of cameras around the vehicle make for easier manoeuvres and eliminate the driver’s blind spots. Radar-controlled Front Assist and City Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Protection – standard on all models – are constantly scanning the road ahead for collision risks, sounding warnings and trigger emergency braking if need be. More sophisticated features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist and – for the first time in a SEAT – Emergency Assist, which detects if the driver has become inactive – possibly in a medical emergency – and brings the car to a straight-line halt with the hazard lights illuminated.

The Ateca makes great use of the proven SEAT Media System with its simple touchscreen controls and Full Link smartphone integration functions to provide seamless and easy access to infotainment, connectivity and navigation.
 

Efficient powertrains

The Ateca offers an impressive breadth of choice, not least in a range of advanced petrol and diesel turbocharged engines that span a power spectrum from 115 to 190 PS. A new 1.0 TSI 115 Ecomotive unit kicks off the line-up, with official emissions and fuel consumption figures from 119 g/km and 54.3 mpg. There is also a 1.4 Eco TSI 150 petrol unit, which again reaps the rewards of efficient design and engineering. The diesel choices are a 1.6 TDI with 115 PS and a 2.0 TDI with 150 or 190 PS and the option of DSG seven-speed automatic transmission. All engines feature Ecomotive technologies for optimum efficiency, including stop-start and energy regeneration. True to the Ateca’s status as an SUV, strong, usable torque performance has been made a priority across the board.

Both versions of the 2.0 TDI are offered with 4Drive all-wheel drive, a system which features a latest-generation Haldex multiplate coupling. On these models, the SEAT Drive Profile adds two further options for Snow and Offroad, letting the drive prime the car’s handling and performance at a turn of the Driving Experience button on the centre console.

 

Excellent equipment specs and choices

The Ateca debuts in the UK with a line-up of five equipment grades, including First Edition, SEAT’s first crowd-sourced model specification.

Kick-off point for the range is S grade, which offers a rich mix of features including 16-inch alloys, electric door mirror adjustment, SEAT’s Media System Touch with Bluetooth, USB port, SD card slot and four-speaker audio, height-adjustable driver’s seat, split-folding rear seats, boot light, front armrest, leather steering wheel and gear knob trim, power windows, seven airbags, Tiredness Recognition system and the new Front Assist and City Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Protection.

SE grade ads 17-inch alloys, roof rails, auto-folding door mirrors, LED taillights, front fog lights with a cornering function, rear reading lights, ambient cabin illumination, rear armrest, roof console with sunglasses holder, front passenger seat height adjustment, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, SEAT Drive Profile with Driving Experience button and the Media System Plus, with eight-inch colour touchscreen, integrated voice control and eight-speaker audio.

SE Technology models ride on 18-inch bi-colour alloys and beef up the infotainment package with the addition of navigation, using 3D mapping and a high-res colour display. There is also an additional SD card slot and the audio system provides DAB radio reception. Style touches include chrome window surrounds and aluminium-finish roof rails.

The Ateca First Edition models, limited to a run of just 200 vehicles for retail customers and which sold out by October 2016, were produced as the result of a competition linked to a SEAT’s on-line car lifestyle configurator. People’s responses to a set of questions produced any of 192 possible specifications, the most popular of which translated into a real life model for the UK model. Almost 13,000 people took part and the result is the First Edition, equipped with full LED headlights, bi-colour 18-inch wheels, satellite navigation, KESSY keyless entry and go, a power tailgate with hands-free “virtual pedal” opening and closing function, rear-view camera, dark-tinted rear windows and a choice of three dedicated metallic paint finishes.

At the top of the range, XCELLENCE grade is a no-holds-barred celebration of SEAT technology and quality. It comes fitted with 18-inch Performance alloy wheels, twin chrome tailpipes, aluminium roof rails, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, full LED headlights and taillights, welcome lights in the door mirrors, rear-view camera, LED ambient interior lighting with eight colour options, KESSY keyless entry and go, leather upholstery, black headlining, aluminium door sills, and a Connectivity Hub in the centre console, including a wireless charger. It also comes with a Convenience Pack comprising auto headlights and wipers, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and automatic coming and leaving home lighting.

Customers can ramp up their car’s specification with a wide range of equipment options and accessories, including Driver Assistance and Convenience packs that bundle together different features in cost-efficient combinations.

Exterior

The Ateca has an unmistakeable look that successfully applies SEAT’s contemporary design language to an SUV, with a striking combination of dynamism and functionality. There are several elements that clearly reference the brand-iconic Leon, such as the trapezoidal grille, triangular light signatures and sharply defined wheel arch blisters, but throughout, every detail has been scrutinised and taken to the next level for the Ateca.

Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, Head of SEAT Design, explains: “The Ateca is a car that could only have been created in Barcelona, by a brand that’s on the move and with a design that combines passion with precision.

“Its design displays clear tension and conveys forceful energy. The joy of performance is reflected in every detail and shows the powerful SEAT character.”

The front end is definitively SEAT and yet 100% SUV, with a confident, large and high-set grille, sharply defined lights and substantial air intakes broadcasting the car’s dynamic credentials. At the same time, the car’s broad, muscular stance exudes solidity and reliability.

True to SEAT’s commitment to technology, full LED headlamps – standard on First Edition, SE Technology and XCELLENCE models – provide both excellent luminescence and an attractive lighting tone. Combined with the signature triangular daytime running light arrangement and integrated turn indicator lights, they immediately identify the Ateca as a SEAT model.

The marriage of state-of-the-art technology with emotional design quality is also witnessed in the illumination of welcome lights (standard on XCELLENCE models) the moment you hit the unlock button, with an array of LEDs on the underside of the door mirrors projecting the Ateca name and silhouette on to the ground.

The side profile clearly conveys the car’s dynamics and performance, with precise crease lines interacting with sensual, flowing forms, for example on the lower door sections. This demonstrates not only the designers’ feel for form, but also the skill of SEAT’s toolmakers and production specialists. The door mirrors sit on the shoulder of the doors, a design detail that’s usually only found on sports cars.

The wheel arches have a slightly rectangular treatment, framed in black to offset wheels that range from 16 to 19 inches in diameter. S grade models run on 16-inch Design silver alloys, with SE versions equipped with 17-inch 10-spoke Dynamic wheels. First Edition and SE Technology grades come with sleek 18-inch bi-colour alloys with contrasting silver and machined-face spokes, and the range-topping XCELLENCE models feature 18-inch silver Performance thin-spoke rims. The options list includes striking 19”-inch alloy wheels.

The window line is framed in chrome (SE Technology and XCELLENCE grades) and features a distinctive kink in the rear edge of the rear window that gives the car a longer and more elegant line. Dark-tinted privacy glass is standard on First Edition and XCELLENCE models. Aluminium roof rails are provided on SE Technology and XCELLENCE models, the latter also featuring a high-gloss black grille and chrome-finished twin exhaust tailpipes. An optional panoramic roof can be specified for XCELLENCE versions.

Another element typical of a modern SEAT is the highly sculpted rear end, with the licence plate recess set low down. The outer margins of the LED lights are pulled slightly upwards to add emphasis to the Ateca’s powerful haunches. Attention to practicality can be seen in the very low loading lip.

Across the range there is a choice of 11 paint colours, including new SEAT shades Samoa Orange and Rhodium Grey.

Interior

There is perfect harmony between the Ateca’s exterior and interior designs, the cabin displaying refined elegance and dynamic character, while exuding the feeling of safety and solidity that’s so highly valued by SUV owner. Witness the raised seating position, the clear view of the nose of the vehicle from the steering wheel and the solid door strips.

The driver-focused cockpit has a strong horizontal line, with controls grouped closely together and the information read-outs, such as the infotainment display, all positioned for at-a-glance viewing. The car’s fundamental SUV character can also be seen in the high centre console, which also allows for a short-lever gear stick that adds an extra dash of agility to the driving experience.

Customers can match the interior lighting to their mood with ambient LEDs creating a waterfall illumination effect, with a choice of eight different colours (standard on XCELLENCE models).

Measuring 4,363 mm long, 1,601 mm tall (1,611 mm with roof rails), 1,841 mm wide, the Ateca offers the best packaging in its class to maximise interior length and deliver a boot that holds 510 litres (485 in 4Drive versions) with the rear seats in place, loading to the height of the rear seatbacks. Fold the rear seats down and a cavernous area is freed up, extending to a maximum 1,604 litres, loading to the roof; 636 litres loading to seatback height (1,579 and 611 litres in 4Drive models). Although the 2,638 mm wheelbase is just 2 mm longer than that of the Leon ST, there is much greater sense of interior space, generated by the Ateca’s higher roofline.

The boot’s rational shape makes loading simple, measuring a maximum 1,003 mm wide and 893 mm long with the rear seats in place. When even more space is needed, the rear seats can be folded over in a moment, using levers in the luggage compartment for convenience. The load space can be made even more flexible with an optional double floor system to help organise storage – keeping muddy boots clear of spare jeans, for example.

Three upholsteries are featured across the range:  Nasa grey cloth for S grade models; Nora blue cloth for SE, First Edition and SE Technology; and black leather with sports seats for XCELLENCE.
 

Engines and transmissions

High-efficiency turbo petrol and diesel power

The Ateca’s powertrain line-up comprises five turbocharged engines – two petrol and three diesel – giving a wide power spread from 115 to 190 PS and, in all cases, generous torque appropriate for an SUV. Every unit features  Ecomotive technology to secure the best possible fuel and emissions efficiency, with smooth Start/Stop engine shut-off when the car comes to halt in traffic, and energy recovery, which stores brake energy usually lost as heat and uses it to help power the car’s electrical systems.  According to engine, six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic transmissions are available.

1.0 TSI 115 PS Ecomotive

The all-new 1.0 TSI 115 PS petrol engine is matched to a six-speed manual transmission. It reaps the benefits of SEAT Ecomotive technologies, with combined cycle benchmark figures of 119 g/km of CO2 and 54.3 mpg fuel consumption for the S grade on 16-inch wheels. When larger wheels are fitted, the levels are marginally higher – 120 g/km and 53.3 mpg. The engine’s modest capacity notwithstanding, the engine delivers 200 Nm of peak torque, on tap from 2,000 to 3,500rpm.

1.4 Eco TSI 150 PS

The 150 PS 1.4 Eco TSI engine, familiar from the Ibiza and Leon ranges, uses Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) to achieve a significant reduction in fuel consumption. This system automatically shuts off two of the engine’s four cylinders (cylinders two and three) under low to mid loads – in practice between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm with torque loads between 25 and 75 Nm. The turbo helps ensure there’s plenty of torque right where it’s needed – a maximum 250 Nm available from as low as 1,500 rpm. Using a six-speed manual gearbox, the 1.4 Eco TSI has official efficiency figures of 122 g/km of CO2 and 52.3 mpg fuel economy.

TDI Ecomotive diesel engines

The Ateca is available with 1.6 and 2.0 TDI Ecomotive direct injection diesel engines, the latter with a choice of 150 or 190 PS outputs. The 1.6 TDI 115 unit summons a maximum 250 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 3,250 rpm for a flexible, relaxed drive. It comes with 113 g/km of CO2 and 65.7 mpg fuel economy.

The 2.0 TDI 150 adds more torque, as well as horsepower, with 340 Nm from 1,750 rpm. With the 4Drive all-wheel drive system its official data show 129 g/km of CO2 and 55.4 mpg. Technical data for the manual version will be released in 2017.

At the top of the range, the 2.0 TDI 190 is offered exclusively with the DSG gearbox and 4Drive all-wheel drive. It produces a hefty 400 Nm and can reach a top speed is 132 mph, while emissions and fuel economy remain strong at 135 g/km and 53.3 mpg respectively. It also dispatches 0-62 mph in just 7.5 seconds.

4Drive all-wheel drive

The Ateca’s optional 4Drive all-wheel drive system is one of the most modern and efficient on the market today. It uses a fifth generation Haldex multi-plate coupling with hydraulic actuation and electronic control. It reacts extremely quickly in all kinds of driving scenarios to ensure extra grip and traction is delivered whenever it’s required, ensuring excellent safety and handling in all conditions.

Ateca’s design allows it to tackle challenging off-road conditions, with a maximum approach angle of 20° and a break-over angle of 19.4°. The ground clearance is a generous 187mm, so confident progress can be made across open ground when required.
 

SEAT Drive Profile

Drivers can adapt their car’s performance to suit their preference with the SEAT Drive Profile, selecting from four profiles – Normal, Sport, Eco and Individual – with a simple turn of the new Driving Experience Button on the centre console. In vehicles fitted with 4Drive all-wheel drive, there are additional Snow and Offroad profiles, plus a Hill Descent Control function. The SEAT Drive Profile is fitted to SE grade models and higher, except for those powered by the 1.0 TSI 115 engine.
 

Chassis and suspension

The Ateca benefits from a bodyshell that is both lightweight and incredibly stiff. With a kerb weight from just 1,280 kg, it is among the lightest models in its class, ensuring agile handling both around town and out on the open road. Its quality is rooted in its use of a dedicated platform using the Volkswagen Group’s advanced MQB architecture.

The suspension system is based on the proven set-up featured in the Leon with independent MacPherson-type front struts and a semi-rigid axle (torsion beam) at the rear – a design that saves weight and cost. In 4Drive models, a multi-link rear axle is deployed, allowing greater lateral movement to maintain optimum contact between the tyres and the road surface.

Steering

The electric rack and pinion steering system communicates a very natural feel through the wheel, while providing the kind of light performance that drivers favour when having to negotiate slow traffic and the tight manoeuvres of urban driving. The Ateca’s turning diameter is 10.8 m.

Brakes

The braking system on all Ateca models features 312 x 25 mm ventilated front discs and 272 x 10 mm solid rear discs.  An electric parking brake is a standard feature across the range.

The Ateca is equipped with systems and features to keep everyone on board safe and secure, not just offering protection when a collision happens, but also working to prevent accidents happening in the first place. The quality of the equipment provided as standard has earned the SUV Euro NCAP’s five-star rating, but owners can go further by specifying even more advanced optional features for their car.

SEAT has fully embraced radar and camera technology to provide invaluable support for the driver, with systems that can intervene with braking to help prevent an accident, scan for risks in blind spots, help with precision parking and automatically provide the best possible night-time illumination. The car can even recognise an emergency situation when the driver becomes inactive and unresponsive, bringing the car to halt and switching on the hazard lights if need be.

The breadth of systems available – as standard or optional features – demonstrates another dimension of SEAT’s commitment to harnessing advanced technologies that have genuine value.

Euro NCAP:  top five-star rating

The strength of the Ateca’s standard safety provisions is reflected in the top five-star rating the car has achieved in independent Euro NCAP testing.  The SUV’s performance was classified as excellent in each area of the test programme: adult occupant protection; child safety; pedestrian protection; and driver assistance systems. The results are all the more noteworthy for being achieved after Euro NCAP’s introduction of more stringent and wider ranging test criteria.

Safety as standard

All versions of the Ateca are fitted with seven airbags, including a driver’s knee airbag. The front and rear seatbelts have pretensioners and force limiters and there are two Isofix child seat anchors with top tethers, located on the outer rear seats. Active head restraints help protect against whiplash injury in a rear-end impact.

There is an equally thorough approach to providing braking and handling systems to help the driver keep control in dangerous conditions and situations, including ASR traction control with ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Hold Control and SEAT’s XDS differential lock system. A tyre pressure warning system is also provided as standard.

Adaptive Cruise Control and Front Assist

The Ateca’s radar-controlled adaptive cruise control will automatically keep the car a safe, regulated distance from the vehicle in front – a real boon on long motorway journeys where it can take a lot of the stress out of driving.

Front Assist uses a radar sensor integrated in the front of the car to constantly monitor the distance between the Ateca and the vehicle ahead. If it calculates that there is a risk of a collision, it will trigger a warning light and sound to alert the driver. If the driver doesn’t provide enough braking pressure to avoid an impact, the system will generate the necessary extra braking force. Should the driver take no action, Front Assist will apply emergency braking automatically. Front Assist is standard on all Ateca models; Adaptive Cruise Control is available as an option on SE, SE Technology and XCELLENCE grades.
 

City Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Protection

While Front Assist works at higher speeds, the system also provides a City Emergency Braking function designed to provide a valuable layer of security when travelling in slower, urban traffic (up to 37 mph). It operates to the same principles as Front Assist and has been developed to recognise pedestrians on or to the side of the road ahead as well as other vehicles – a function appearing for the first time on a SEAT with the Ateca. City Emergency Braking is standard on all versions of the Ateca.
 

Traffic Sign Recognition

It is often easy to miss important road signs as you drive past, but SEAT’s Traffic Sign Recognition system makes sure the driver is kept aware of speed limits and other restrictions, replicating road signs on the navigation display. Traffic Sign Recognition is available in the Driving Assistance 2 option pack for XCELLENCE models.

 

Blind Spot Detection

Changing lanes is made safer in the Ateca with the help of Blind Spot Detection. This uses radar sensors to monitor following traffic to each side of the car. When another vehicle is moving in the driver’s blind spot, a warning light is shown in the appropriate door mirror. Blind Spot Detection is available as part of the Advanced Driving Assistance option packs.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert

The Rear Cross Traffic Alert is designed to reduce the risk when backing out of a parking space with poor lines of sight from the steering wheel. The rear-mounted radar scans for approaching traffic from either side, to a distance of up to 25 metres and sounds a warning if it is not safe to proceed. Rear Cross Traffic Alert is available in the Advanced Driving Assistance option packs.

 

Top View Camera

The Ateca is equipped with an array of four cameras, located in the front grille, rear bumper and both door mirrors. These can combine to provide a bird’s eye 360-degree view of the vehicle’s position, making tight parking spaces easier to negotiate.  Four different image modes can be chosen, including a front or all four wheels with guidelines to show the steering path to take to avoid hitting the kerb or roadside obstacles – invaluable in helping keep the alloy wheels pristine. The Top View Camera is available as an option on SE, SE Technology and XCELLENCE models.

 

High Beam Assist

High Beam Assist helps maintain optimum LED headlight illumination in night driving, without the risk of dazzling oncoming traffic. A camera fitted to the back of the rear-view mirror casing detects other vehicles approaching or travelling ahead, automatically switching the headlights to low beam, the restoring full beam once the road is clear. It is available as part of the optional Driving Assistance packs.

 

Emergency Assist

Emergency Assist, a feature new to SEAT, responds in situations where the driver becomes inactive for a period, for example if they have suffered a medical emergency. It will first trigger a warning light, then a sound alert, followed by a brief pulse of the brakes. If there is still no response from the driver, it will slow the Ateca to a standstill, keeping it within its lane of traffic, and activate the hazard lights and parking brake. The system forms part of the Advanced Driving and Comfort option pack.

 

Tiredness Recognition

Tiredness Recognition detects when the driver is tired and sounds an alert, recommending a break from the wheel for safety’s sake. It does so using an algorithm that ‘learns’ the driver’s style over the course of a journey through the steering movements, and notices when there’s a particular deviation from that style, indicating the driver may be tired and losing attention. At that point it will trigger an audible warning, and a visual alert on the information display in the instrument binnacle. The system is standard on all grades.

SEAT’s Technology to Enjoy maxim is fully expressed in the new Ateca with a raft of clever and useful innovations that make driving safer, stress-free and more entertaining. The chores of parking, navigating traffic and even opening up the tailgate when you’re laden with bags have all been rethought, producing simple and effective solutions.

The Ateca also makes full use of the SEAT Media System, incorporating the intuitive touchscreen display and Full Link smartphone integration to provide seamless connectivity, infotainment and navigation functions.

 

Park Assist

The latest version of SEAT’s Park Assist system does even more to make parking manoeuvres hassle-free, for both parallel and series spaces. After activating the system by pushing the Park Assist button, the car is steered automatically into a viable space – the driver keeping control of accelerator, brake and gear selection. The system can be used to identify suitable parking spaces and the driver can manually select their preferred choice. The latest development of the technology maps the car’s surroundings with even greater precision, so manoeuvres are more accurate than ever. Park Assist is available as an option on SE, SE Technology and XCELLENCE grades.

The Top View Camera (detailed in the Safety section) provides a further aid to parking, giving the driver access to camera views all around the vehicle, including a complete bird’s eye view of their position in relation to other vehicles or obstacles.

 

Traffic Jam Assist

SEAT’s Traffic Jam Assist takes the grind out of driving in slow, stop-start traffic, with automatic steering, acceleration and braking. At high speeds, it provides support with speed control and lane keeping.

It works using Lane Assist and adaptive cruise control functions, also providing adaptive lane keeping when the car is moving at less than 37 mph. If the vehicle begins to deviate from its traffic lane, it will provide countersteering to keep it centred on its correct course. However, the system will also learn and adapt to the driver’s preferred position within a lane. The adaptive cruise control provides automatic braking and acceleration to keep the Ateca a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.

Electric tailgate with “virtual pedal”

Opening up the Ateca’s tailgate is a genuine hands-free breeze, thanks to powered operation and a “virtual pedal” system. Forget scrabbling to find the key when loaded with luggage or shopping: if the key fob is on your person, simply moving your foot beneath the bottom edge of the rear bumper will activate a sensor and open the hatch. The same action will also close the hatch too. It is fitted as standard to the First Edition models and offered as an option on SE and XCELLENCE.

 

KESSY –keyless entry and go

The SEAT Ateca builds anticipation for a great drive with telling details that include a start button that pulses in red like a heartbeat. It welcomes the driver as part of the KESSY keyless entry and go system that’s fitted as standard to First Edition and XCELLENCE models. It can also be specified as an option for SE and SE Technology models, bundled with the Connectivity Hub and wireless phone charger.

 

SEAT Media System

The SEAT Media System is the platform for the new Ateca’s infotainment features.  In its simplest form, Media System Touch (S grade models), it uses a five-inch monochrome touchscreen, with connectivity options covered by a USB port and SD card connections, plus Bluetooth for hands-free phone use and audio streaming. The audio functions include FM radio and MP3/WMA file playing via a four-speaker set-up.

SE models some as standard with Media System Plus, which introduces a larger, eight-inch full colour touchscreen, integrated voice control, Full Link (see below), an additional Aux-in socket, plus an eight-speaker audio system.

First Edition, SE Technology and XCELLENCE grades add satellite navigation to the package, with high-res colour 3D mapping, together with an additional SD car slot and DAB digital radio reception.  This package can be specified as an option on SE models.

Navigation System Plus, optionally available for the Ateca XCELLENCE comes with more sophisticated mapping features and a 10GB hard disk drive, plus the 10-speaker SEAT Sound System with subwoofer.

XCELLENCE models also come with a Connectivity Hub that relieves any worries about running out of phone battery charge. Connection can be made using an additional USB port or a wireless charging tray for compatible phones, located handily within the centre console. The system also boasts a phone reception amplifier for poorer signal areas.

 

Full Link phone integration

SEAT Full Link connectivity provides seamless smartphone integration compatible with MirrorLink, Android Auto and Apple Car Play, thus covering all of the principal operating systems. The result is easy online access with minimum distraction from the job of driving. Users can sync their email, social media feeds and digital playlists using the SEAT Media System touchscreen on the centre console.

In the case of Apple Car Play, functions available include phone, messaging, music and maps, with more scheduled to be added. MirrorLink enables safe smartphone operation by mirroring the phone’s screen on the touchscreen. The system provides seamless use of an increasing number of compatible android devices. Android Auto provides an alternative means of accessing navigation, communication and music apps and services via the touchscreen, instead of the phone itself.

Full Link is provided as standard on all Ateca grades apart from the entry-level S.

Record-breaking residual values

The Ateca made history in receiving the highest residual value predictions for any SEAT model. Just ahead of its market launch, it was forecast to retain up to 59% of its original value after three years or 60,000 miles, according to industry experts cap hpi. That headline figure was achieved by the new 1.0 TSI 115 S model, but across the range the average RV was an exceptional 52.6%.

 

Servicing: It’s Fixed!

Every Ateca has the same servicing requirements. A major service is required only at 20,000-mile intervals, with an oil change every 10,000 miles. Cars that travel less than 10,000 miles per year require an inspection service, which includes oil change, every 12 months.

In 2012, SEAT introduced its It’s Fixed! servicing scheme, which provides a transparent, easy-to-book and, most importantly, cost-effective way for all SEAT drivers to have their cars serviced – and by fully trained SEAT technicians using only genuine SEAT parts.

Thanks to It’s Fixed!, a minor service (every 10,000 miles/one year) is just £159, a first-year service £179, a second-year service £239, and a major service (20,000 miles/two years) £269, including VAT and labour. An online booking facility makes it incredibly convenient, and it’s open to all SEAT cars from one- to fifteen years old.

 

Warranty

The warranty package provided with the new Ateca includes:

  • Three-year/60,000-mile warranty (comprises two-year manufacturer’s warranty with unlimited mileage plus a further one-year Dealer Warranty limited to 60,000 miles)
  • 12-year anti-perforation warranty – the Ateca has a fully-galvanised steel body
  • Three-year paintwork warranty against manufacturing defects
  • Two-year SEAT Assistance roadside assistance package valid in 33 countries throughout Europe and bordering countries

Extended warranties for four years/75,000 miles and five years/90,000 miles can be purchased at the time the vehicle is ordered.
