/ SEAT Toledo used as celebrity chauffeur car for Marie Curie Christmas fundraiser
/ Marie Curie Carols in the City, held in London, raises £45,000 for charity
/ Celebrities transported in Toledo include BBC newsreader and event host Sophie Raworth
/ Great value price tag doesn’t stop Toledo being spacious and stylish enough for VIP use
The new SEAT Toledo proved its worth as high class, high practicality people mover when it was used to transport celebrities and VIPs to the Marie Curie Carols in the City concert this month.
The event, held in London’s stunning and historic Southwark Cathedral, was held to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care – and it succeeded, raising £45,000 and counting with donations still being taken at www.mariecurie.org.uk.
Hosted by BBC newsreader Sophie Raworth, the 6 December concert captured the spirit of Christmas with performances by world famous soprano Hayley Westenra, London choir Fever Pitch, and festive readings from celebrities including Californication and Truman Show star Natascha McElhone, BAFTA nominated actor Phil Davis and Lark Rise To Candleford actress Olivia Hallina.
Of course, celebrities require transportation in comfort and style, but instead of supplying Marie Curie with the obvious VIP choice from the SEAT model range – the multi-award winning Alhambra – SEAT donated something a little more leftfield.
Ariane Buteux, Marie Curie Cancer Care Celebrity and VIP Manager, said: “It was wonderful to partner with SEAT for Carols in the City. We were delighted the company was able to donate its new Toledo cars on the night and I know all involved were impressed by the professionalism of the service and warmth of the drivers.
“Working with the SEAT team meant I could be safe in the knowledge that our celebrity supporters would arrive relaxed and on time for our festive Christmas fundraiser”.
SEAT Fleet & Business Sales Marketing Manager Peter Brooking said: “We were delighted to get the opportunity to help Marie Curie Cancer Care put on this amazing event by providing the new Toledo model for the celebrity participants.
“The Toledo is perhaps not the most obvious choice for a VIP chauffeur car, but we were absolutely confident it would do the job with aplomb – and our confidence was well placed.
“That the Toledo, which has a compact footprint and a great value price, could act as transport for the VIP guests at such a prestigious event is testament to its quality and versatility of interior space.”
The SEAT Toledo is on sale now, priced from just £12,495 RRP OTR, with the most efficient 1.6 TDI Ecomotive version boasting 72.4mpg and 104g/km of CO2, making it exceptionally cost-effective to run.
It is extremely well equipped, too, with S versions including air conditioning, Bluetooth hands-free phone operation with voice control, a USB port, steering wheel mounted audio controls, remote central locking and a split folding rear bench.
The Toledo recently received a five-star safety score from Euro NCAP, including a 94% score for adult occupant protection, and 80% for child occupants, putting it among the very safest cars on the road today.
